Who we are
bickr is an app that helps people and groups decide where to eat or drink, or what to watch. This policy explains what information we handle and why. If you have a question about it, email hello@bickr.au.
What we collect and why
Your email address
You can use bickr without an account. If you choose to sign in, we collect your email address and use it only to send you your sign-in link and to operate your account.
Your location
To show you places near you, bickr needs to know where you are. With your permission, your device gives us your precise coordinates. If you would rather not share them, you can type a suburb instead. Either way, that location is sent to Google so we can search for venues near you.
Suburbs you type are kept on our servers for up to 30 days. We do not keep a history of your movements.
Usage analytics
We use PostHog to see how the app is being used: events such as which category was picked, the kind of device you are on, and an approximate location worked out from your IP address, at country level. We use this to improve the app. We do not sell personal information.
Group sessions
When you start or join a group, the session code and the choices made in that session are shared with the other members of your group. We keep them only as long as the session needs them.
Your swipe history
The record of what you have swiped through is stored on your own device. It is not kept on our servers.
Cookies and local storage
If you sign in, we set a cookie that keeps you signed in. We also store your app preferences on your device, so the app opens the way you left it.
Third parties we use
- Google Maps Platform. bickr uses Google Maps features and content. Google’s own privacy policy applies to that use: Google’s privacy policy.
- TMDB. Information about films and shows comes from TMDB.
- Supabase. Authentication and database.
- Vercel. Hosting.
- PostHog. Analytics.
Some of these providers store and process data outside Australia, including in the United States.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete the information we hold about you. Email hello@bickr.au and we will sort it out. If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, the new version will be posted on this page with the date it was last updated.
